The Euros: A brief history

Half-time: England 0-1 Slovakia

The Three Lions are 45 minutes away from being eliminated from Euro 2024.

The attack has been insipid in comparison to their opponents, who have looked sharp and threatening on the ball.

The lone brightspot has been Saka, who has tried to force the issue, but has yet to unlock this Slovakian defence.

If Slovakia can continue their display in the second half, they are in serious contention to meet Switzerland in the quarterfinals.

England will need to reorganize now, and perhaps there will be some personnel changes when we return from the break.

GOAL! Schranz scores. England 0-1 Slovakia

Schranz puts Slovakia deservedly into the lead!

That is his third of the tournament.

Strelec gets on a break on the right side and has just enough room inside the box to send the ball towards Schranz who is coming in on his right.

The foward steers a shot past Pickford into the far post.

England have been underwhelming, and this should provide a much-needed wake-up call.

But they are under high alert once more as Haraslin charges in from the left flank.

Guehi picks up yellow

He was already on a yellow, so he will miss out on the quarterfinals, assuming England go through.

Pickford picked up that niggle during the warm-ups, but remains the first-choice keeper for now.

England have been under the microscope after their last few performances, so it will be interesting to see what intent they show for this knockout match.

As a result of the foul, Slovakia have a free kick about 35 metres out on the right side.
